Congratulations on your interest in seeking a Saddleback College Student Government position for the 2018-2019 school year.
The term of office is from May 2018 - May 2019
What does ASG do?
The Associated Student Government (ASG) of Saddleback College represents and advocates for the students on our campus. ASG also plans, organizes, promotes, sponsors and finances a comprehensive program of activities and services for all Saddleback College students.
ASG represents the students of Saddleback College and attend or sit on various campus committees such as the Student Success Coordinating Committee, Chancellor's Council, Academic Senate, Classified Senate, and the Technology Committee.
Participating in ASG and campus clubs gives students the opportunity to learn valuable leadership, organizational, and communication skills that serve to enhance their college experience and provide a foundation for the future. ASG also provides an excellent opportunity to have a voice in policy-making on campus. Consider joining the action today!
THIS INFORMATION PERTAINS ONLY TO STUDENTS SEEKING ONE OF THE FOLLOWING GENERAL ELECTION POSITIONS AS PART OF THE ASSOCIATED STUDENT GOVERNMENT OF SADDLEBACK COLLEGE:
- Vice President
- Director of Human Resources and Volunteering
- Director of Events
- Director of Student Clubs and Organizations
- Director of Publicity and Public Relations
- Director of International Students and Diversity
- Director of Honors Student Council
- Director of Veterans Student Council

Positions are subject to change. In the case that an elected individual's position has been changed or removed, the President, along with the ASG Board of Directors, will reappoint the applicant as they see fit and/or the applicant may reapply for a vacant position.
There is a separate application and election process for the Student Trustee position with the South Orange County Community College District Board of Trustees. This year, the trustee election will be handled by Irvine Valley College.
CANDIDATE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
A. You must currently be enrolled at Saddleback College with a minimum of five units of credit for any of these offices;
B. Saddleback College must be your college of record;
C. You must have completed at least 12 units of credit at Saddleback College prior to taking office for the elected position;
D. You must have served on ASG for one continuous semester, within the past three academic years, before taking office for any elected position.; Those running for President and Vice President must be serving on ASG at least one semester during the current academic year.
E. You must have served on HSC for one continuous semester abiding by the HSC attendance policy, within the past three academic years, before taking office for Director of HSC.
F. You must currently have and maintain a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 throughout the entire term of office for all positions;
G. You must maintain a minimum course load of five units of credit (summer excluded) throughout the term of office for all positions;
H. You must be able to attend all position-required meetings. All candidates must be ready and able to commit a minimum of 3-5 hours a week to meetings.
I. All ASG members are expected to spend a minimum of 15 hours a semester volunteering for ASG events.
J. All ASG members are expected to commit a minimum of 1 hour a week to complete their tasks on their own time. (This does not include the hours spent volunteering for ASG events or the mandatory meetings.)
K. AVAILABILTY: Must attend Fall and Spring retreat for 2018-2019- TBD
